Message from the Director:

The aim of my foundation is to use the universal language of music to reach out to people throughout the world. As a result of our extensive travels, our study and performance of music from numerous cultures, and our ethnically diverse membership, the children in my foundation have learned to appreciate the unique offerings of all the communities of the world, the common bonds that we share, and the special ability of music to reach the hearts of people the world over.

Together we have experienced the healing power of music, and the children have learned that their music is a powerful tool to bring comfort to those in need or distress. When most people sat helpless in the wake of the World Trade Center disaster, these children knew that they could help in a small but meaningful way – they reached for their violins and went to play for the firefighters in mourning for their comrades.

While all the children are classically trained and are taught the same techniques, each child is encouraged to express his or her own individual style. Therefore, the children may learn the same pieces yet each one will sound very different from the next. When we then work together to perform as an ensemble, our music is strengthened by the contributions of each child’s insight, and I think you will find that the results are quite unique.

It is my great pleasure to bring this CD to you. I hope you enjoy the work of these sincere and dedicated children.
